Glide Bikes™ Adds the Go Glider™
June 2nd, 2009

Glide Bikes™ Adds the Go Glider™ to its Line of Balance Bikes for Children

Wilmington, NC – If you’ve got a child between the ages of 5 and 10 who hasn’t learned to ride a bike yet, then you know what lies ahead — tears, training wheels, frustration, scraped knees and elbows. Do you wish you could bypass all of that? Well, now you can! Glide Bikes™ has added the Go Glider™ for older children to learn balance without training wheels and tears. A larger version of the Mini Glider™, the original balance bike for 2 to 5 year olds, the Go Glider™ is sized to carry children up to 125 pounds and is available in red, blue and pink.

Glide Bikes™ are the only U.S. designed balance bikes with mountain bike geometry, giving the rider a lower center of gravity for more stability and safer balancing. There are no pedals and no training wheels to get in the way, so kids can take the first important step to riding a traditional bike – learning how to balance.

Designed and invented by a father and avid cyclist who saw the need for a learning bike with superior construction and design, Glide Bikes™ are made of lightweight alloy and are the only balance bikes with footpegs, giving kids a fun way to glide and training them to place their feet where the pedals will be on a traditional bike. The quick-release seat clamp makes height adjustments easy, the handlebars adjust for proper arm alignment, and the easy-to-use handbrake is sized just right for small hands. There is minimal assembly required and all Glide Bikes™ are covered by a lifetime warranty.

Founded in 2004 by Ed Mondello, Glide Bikes™ originally hand crafted its gliders in Ed’s Boston, MA and Wilmington, NC workshops. Glide Bikes™ were even field-tested by his own children. The Glide Bikes Kid Club™ and website gbxkids.com is in the works, to be launched during the summer of 2009. Club membership is automatic with a Glide Bikes™ purchase. The site will feature games and stories, a community forum and an online store featuring GBX™ apparel and bike accessories. To order your Glide Bike™.

Glide Bikes™ Receives High Ratings from AblePlay™
May 1st, 2009

Included in the 2009 Toys’R'Us Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids May 2009

Wilmington, NC — Glide Bikes™, Inc., balance bike manufacturer, announces that its Glide Bikes have been included in the 2009 Toys’R'Us Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids. The Guide offers qualified toy recommendations based on research from the non-profit National Lekotek Center, the leading authority on toys and play for children with disabilities. View the Guide online at toysrus.com.

AblePlay™, the toy rating system developed by the national Lekotek Center, has given the Mini Glider™ and Go Glider™ high ratings. On a scale of 1-5 stars, Glide Bikes™ received 4 stars in the Cognitive category, three stars in both the Communicative and Sensory Categories, and two stars in the Physical Category. View the complete product review at ableplay.org.

Ellen Metrick, Manager of Business Development at the National Lekotek center, cited the specific features considered when rating a product in the physical category: “…we take into account the center of gravity. Size and durability are also large factors. Glide Bikes is wonderful in this regard – children who are older, but require more practice in balance and control before they learn a traditional pedal bicycle can benefit tremendously from this product. This is particularly beneficial for children who have cognitive delays. All of the other “balance bikes” I have seen on the market are quite small and a child ages out of them much sooner. Children who have disablities may require more time with the bike to master.”

Glide Bikes™ are the only U.S. designed balance bikes with downhill mountain bike geometry, giving the rider a lower center of gravity for more stability and safer balancing. There are no pedals and no training wheels to get in the way, so kids can take the first important step to riding a traditional bike – learning how to balance. Known for innovative product design, Glide Bikes™ incorporates the latest technology and geometry to produce bikes of superior quality, construction and design. The Glide Bikes™ brand is committed to giving riders of all ages bikes that are enjoyable to ride and built to last.
